Chalkboard Exams: Teacher questions motive through pupils’ exams questions

The controversy that hit the country’s Education Sector on Monday,April 1,2019 ,where teachers at the Basic Education level were seen writting terminal examination questions on the chalkboard for pupils to answer has taken a new direction.

A concerned teacher,realizing the adverse effects of writting the questions on the board for pupils to answer,decided to question the integrity of the decision makers for taking such decision.

The teacher who might have not gotten the opportunity to qustion his employers dirrectly ,decided to use his approach through the same examination medium.

The concerned teacher,who wrote an Engluish Language Second Term Examination on the Chlkboard,wrote an essay question asking the pupils to write a letter to the Minister of Education,explaining two negative  effects of writing examination questions on the board.

”Write a letter to the Minister of Education,explaining two negative effects of setting examination questions on the Chalkboard”

The teacher’s motive might be to send a message to the stakeholders of Education for quick response.

On the other side,the question could also be used to get an understading of the child’s view on the negative effects of writting questions on the board for them to answer.

These same pupils shall be expectd to wrie questions printed by the West African Examinations  Council in the Basic Education Certifcate Examination.

Prof. Yankah Thinks Otherwise

The Deputy Minister of Education in Charge of Tertiary Education, Prof Yankah said the move was taken to ensure teachers deliver quality learning outcomes in schools.

This comment many of the teachers thought otherwise,saying writing examination questions on the board can not be used to ensure teachers deliver quality learning outcomes.

The teachers said writing questions on the board can not be used to even check the quality of their handwrittings.
