Trainee Dismissals: UCC may oppose to calls by GES and MoE due to its autonomy

Students from the Colleges of Education ,who were dismissed due to failure of only one referred paper may not enjoy the effort of its leadership to settle issues with UCC.

Unconfirmed reports reaching has it that the call on the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education to come to the aid of the affected students may yield no results.

The reason has been that the University of Cape Coast is autonomous in its decisions regarding students under its dispensation and so it may not be possible for the any ‘third party’ to come in to resolve issues unless maybe the Conference of Principals who may speak for the students.

It is still not clear why up till now ,the conference of Principals could not take any strong stand on the matter but rather continuously tell student ‘it is an order from UCC’.

It is our fervent hope that this unconfirmed information will be overturned for a lasting solution to be arrived at for the best of the affected students.
