Teachers of the Ghana Education Service on Monday took to the streets of the national capital, Accra,to show their displeasure regarding the inability of the Ghana Education Service and the Education Ministry to pay them their salary arrears for the past eight (8) months.
The picketing took place in front of the Education Ministry,where teachers were seen reminding the Ministry to as a matter of urgency pay them their salary arrears.
The teachers involved were part of the about 2400 teachers who were recruited by the Ghana Education Service last year to teach Mathematics and Science in its basic and second cycle institutions.
The teachers threatened to continue picketing until they are being paid their 8 months salary arrears.
Meanwhile, newly posted teachers from the Colleges of Education also threatened a nationwide Strike which is believed to have started on Monday,May 22 to show their displeasure concerning their salary arrears .
