A first year student of the All Nations University in Koforidua was found dead Wednesday morning at a unisex hostel on the school’s main campus, with claims he fell from the three-storey building.
But authorities at the University will not confirm or deny the claim except to say they are waiting for official investigations into the circumstance that led to the death of the 17-year old Oil and Gas student, Darlington Fakye.
Faakye’s body was discovered by students close to some pipelines behind the hostel at about 9:00AM. He lied prostrate with his face down filled with blood around his neck area and legs crossed. He wore just a boxer-shorts and what looked like a dirty white T-shirt.
Police and Fire Service Personnel have visited the scene to assess the situation. The body has since been deposited at the Koforidua Central Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Students are tight-lipped on details of the incident, TV3’s Eastern Regional Correspondent Yvonne Neequaye reports, adding that the place appeared empty as the students were in exam session when she visited there.
Public Relations Officer of the University, Owusu Acheamfour, told Yvonne that the incident was brought to their attention at about 9:15 Wednesday morning following which they called in the Police.
He said he was not in a position to tell whether the deceased fell from the three-storey hostel building , saying “findings are yet to confirm that”. He revealed insecticide was found in the deceased’s wardrobe but did not say whether it has anything to do with his death.
In March this, a 22-year old Benedicta Nana Esi Aidoo of the University fell from the top of the school building where she was praying with other members of a campus prayer and evangelism group.
