South Eastern Montessori holds Speech Day

Miss Rosina Adobor, the Kpone-Katamanso District Director of Education has called on parents and teachers to collaborate and instill the virtues of discipline among pupils.

This, she said will help prevent the children from engaging in deviant and negative practices, which could ruin their future aspirations.

She maintained that ineffective parental controls were contributing to the high incidence of immorality such as cyber fraud, drug abuse and other negative practices among the youth.

Miss Adobor made the call at the Ninth Graduation, Speech and Prize-Giving Day of SouthEastern Montesorri Academy at Mensah Bar, near Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region.

It was on the theme ‘The Role of Teachers and Parents in curbing indiscipline in Our Schools’’.

She stressed the need for parents to take full responsibility in the upbringing of their children and desist from shirking their responsibility.

Miss Adobor pointed out that emotional development of children was very vital to their adult growth and development and urged parents to provide their children with their needs at all times.

The District Director of Education counselled children to embrace discipline and stick to their books, which she said were the most important things in their lives.

She commended teachers and the school authorities for their relentless efforts in ensuring the proper training of children in their care to enable them to become useful citizens in their communities.

Madam Amina Omar, Proprietress of the school said discipline was essential for teaching and learning, adding that, it was also very important for peace and harmony in any learning environment.

She said in the school situation, discipline was regarded as a code of conduct that both teachers and pupils agree upon and operate in its enforcement.

Madam Omar urged parents to lead exemplary lives for their children to emulate.

Mr Daniel Sorkpor, Headmaster of the school gave the assurance that the school would do everything possible to ensure that discipline becomes the hallmark of the school.

Staff and students, who excelled in their academic work during the year were honoured.
