Headmasters in the Public Senior High Schools in the Country are allowed to take Parent and Teachers Association (PTA) dues as part of the Free Senior High Schools Policy Implementation.
The heads of the Senior High Schools in collaboration with the Parents and Teachers Association are expected to inform the Ghana Education Service in written form to create the awareness of the Ghana Education Service on the joint decision taken to accept the payment of the dues.
This revelation came into light when the Deputy Information Minister and Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi Constituency, Hon.Kojo Oppong Nkrumah took turns to address issues concerning the Education Sector on GH ONE TV’s State of Affairs program hosted by Nana Aba Anamoah on Tuesday, January 7,2018.
According to the Deputy Information Minister, it was untrue that government has ordered the Senior High Schools from taking PTA dues.
The Ghana Education Service ‘punished’ headmasters of some Senior High Schools in the country during the early stages in the implementation of the Free SHS Policy for allegedly charging unapproved fees.
The policy does not care for dues by the Parents and Teachers Association.
