The Pro. Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Prof. George Kwaku Oduro has reiterated the need for Government to Prioritize the Payment of allowances to teachers at the rural areas.
Delivering his key note address at the 2018 National Delegates Conference held In Cape Coast, the Central Regional capital on the theme “TRANSFORMING SOCIETIES THROUGH EDUCATION: INVEST MORE:INVEST EQUITABLY”on the 5th of January 2018,the Pro Vice Chancellor made this statement in support of others calling for similar opportunities to motivate teachers teaching in the rural areas.
The occasion was Chaired by the Oguamanhen (Osabarima Kwesi Atta II)
According to the Pro VC, there was a difference between a teacher and a good teacher making references to their impact in the lives of the learners.
He indicated that Education is the most powerful weapon that the world can use to change the world,calling for an improvrment in the education of Children as it is the surest way to sustainable growth.
He further indicated, that it was mandatory for government to involve teachers in operationalising its policies,saying ,balancing the educational resources and investment leads to a transformed society.

He therefore called on Government to commit itself to a sustained policy of bridging the less endowed schools with the most endowed ones.
Relating Politics to Education, He stated that When elections are over, politicians should view the investment policies of education as a National policy not Political policies..
He urged teachers to use their instructional hours meaningfully and to limit their engagements on social media whilst in the classroom to ensure effective educational investment.
