This initiative is to boost the training programmes of the Service to enhance the security of the state.
The IGP said his outfit is currently in talks with the National Accreditation Board to convert the Ghana Police Command and Staff College at Winneba into a university.
Speaking at a passing out ceremony for some officers, the IGP said the University will serve the purpose of modern policing.
“It is our vision that sooner than later; this college will together with all our training institutions; get the required accreditation from the Accreditation Board so that it becomes the Ghana Police University College.
“The University will focus on excellence in enforcement training not only in Ghana but the whole of the sub-region. And with the can-do attitude that we’ve all pledged ourselves to, this will happen very soon,” Alhassan noted.
