The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama on Friday donated a Mahindra 4X4 Pick up to the National secretariat of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana.
The donation which took place at the Tamale College of Education during the opening Ceremony of the 21st Annual Delegates Congress of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana was presented by the Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Tamale Metropolis on behalf of the President.
Speaking on behalf of the President, the DCE of Sagnerigu district in the Northern region sent a solidarity message to the delegates from the President and also inform them that the vehicle was meant to support their activities as an Association. He also told the leadership to make judicious use of the vehicle to help them manage their affairs smoothly as an Association.
As part of President Mahama’s pledge to assist the works of the Teacher trainees, he also advised the leadership of the Association to continue to speak on issues relating to Trainees and help find new and innovative ways of promoting teacher education in Ghana.
Accepting the vehicle of behalf of the trainees, the National president of the Association Sampson Tagbor thanked the President for his kind gesture and also promised to put the vehicle to good use.
He also reminded government of their pertinent problems as trainees, ranging from feeding grant to postings of Newly trained teachers and hoped that government will take a critical look at their problems and help them to solve them amicably.
