The board of Achimota School in Accra has decided to take legal action against encroachers and others posing security threats to students and teachers.
The board took the decision today after a decapitated body of about a month-old baby was found on the school’s compound about three days ago.
It’s the second murder in less than a month and residents are pointing to ritual murder.
Acting Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service, Rev Jonathan Bettey told Joy News Editor Dzifa Bampoh Thursday that his outfit has been informed about the insecurity in the school and are assiduously working to get it addressed.
A meeting was convened today at the GES to review conditions at the school, which they realized that the existing security is not enough, the noted.
He said management of GES have decided to deploy more security personnel at the school to beef up the existing one to possibly stop criminal activities in the vicinity.
Recently, authorities at the school raised issue with an emerging slum being created by some displaced residents of Old Fadama.
He said the activities of illegal occupants on the school’s land has also come to their attention. The issue, he said, has been reported to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, the custodian, and are also working on it.
Rev. Jonathan Bettey said he would be leading a delegation to the Achimota School to meet the head teacher tomorrow. A technical team would follow later to inspect the place and come out with a recommendation on how to resolve the security issue there once and for all.Submit any breaking News, campus Filla , Event Promotion or Advertisement ,or Inquiries on Any of our Publications to the Education.email@example.com or via our WhatsApp Number 0506440219 For Publication.
