Professor William Otoo Ellis, Vice Chancellor has inaugurated the Council of Convocation for 2016. The Council of Convocation will serve till 2018. At the inaugural ceremony on the 26th of February, 2016, the Vice-Chancellor charged them to be highly committed and to exhibit a high sense of responsibility and integrity.
He noted that the composition of members of convocation includes all senior members, who are part of key element of how universities are set up. He said it is a prestigious position and expressed his gratitude for staff for accepting to be part of the Council.
He continued that the University is made up of made up of students and staff. Having in mind that students are our clients and that they make our businesses thrive will ensure total quality delivery in all sections of the University
Prof. Ellis stated that most people are not interested in the happenings on campus and for that matter does not attend developmental programmes as well as University functions which should be of interest to them. He also lamented on the non- commitment and apathy of most staff towards the University. He said” if we say we are going to succeed then, being passionate is very important”. He therefore called on the members to be passionate and to renew their minds.
He used the occasion to caution them against setting up factions and pursuing individual interests aside that of the University. He tasked them to work to bring unity among all sections of the University. Again, he encouraged them to protect the name and image of the University and to be guided by the Statutes of the University.
Prof. Ellis assured them of management’s support.
Professor Rexford Assasie Oppong, Chairman of the Council of Convocation, stated that their election into the Council meant greater responsibility and called for a Secretariat to facilitate the operations of the Council. Prof. Asaasie Oppong assured the Vice-Chancellor and management that they would work very hard to promote the welfare of the University even if there are no such provisions in the Statutes.
Reverend Dr. Peter Addai Mensah, the Catholic Chaplain inducted members of Convocation and prayed for them.

Members are Ms. Mercy Vanessa Darkwaa Appiah, Dr. Emmanuel K. Appiah-Adjei, Dr. Christopher Larbie, Dr. Marian Asantewah Nkansah, and Dr. Akwasi Acheampong.
Others are Dr. Dadson Anunyo-Vitor, Mrs. Oluwakemi Titiloye and Mr. Reuben Glover. Prof. Rexford Assasie Oppong is Chairman and Mr. Anthony Agyapong is the Clerk of Council of Convocation.
