The 2018 edition of the Inter -Schools Athletics Competition organized by the Obrachire Circuit in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region came to a successful end on Friday afternoon with a very impressive performance by the athletes from all the Schools that participated in the two-day event.
Schools that participated in this year’s competition include the Bawuanum Anglican Basic School, Akrabong D/A Basic School, Mfafo D/A Basic School, Odumase D/A Basic School, Obrachire D/A Basic School and the Kwaman Catholic Basic School.

This year,the Private Schools were excluded from the event which was not the norm.There was no specific reason given by the organizers, though rumors has it that they weren’t able to pay their affiliation fees, a rumor EducationGhana.net had no clue of.
The two-day competition saw Akrabong D/A Basic School taking the overall best performance with 143 points,comprising 45 points for the Boys and 98 for the girls.

The participants took part in almost all the events and it wasn’t surprising when they pulled up to the topmost Awards.
One School that shocked many was the Bawuanum Anglican Basic School, a School known for its laurels in sporting activities in the circuit and a great rival of all the other Schools in the Circuit.
Bawuanum Anglican School recorded a very shocking 47 points, comprising a 29 and 18 points summation of the boys and girls respectively.
The Kwaman Catholic Basic School came second with 130 points advantage, 13 points behind the over winners. The boys had 82 points while the girls recorded 48 points.
Awutu Mfafo D/A Basic School came third with 127 points, comprising 52 and 75 points for the Boys and girls respectively.
The host School, Obrachire D/A Basic School came fourth with 122 points comprising 47 and 75 points for the Boys and girls respectively.
The Odumase D/A Basic, popularly referred to as ABO due to the joint- community ownership of the School came 5th with 119 points, comprising 40 and 79 points for the Boys and girls respectively. ABO, which is known for producing quality football stars is located in the home grounds of the National under 17 football team (Black startlets) Captain,Eric Eyiah.
Speaking with the Coach of the Winning team, Amos Amoako, he indicated their ability to lift the trophy was due to good preparation by the School in relation to the Competition.
Meanwhile, the Akrabong D/A school during the 2017 Sports festival featured a red carded player to play for the team against their rivals Bawuanum Anglican Basic School, a situation that led the Bawuanum Anglican Basic School to petition the Organizing committee which they subsequently won.
The Akrabong team never got discouraged by the past events and so came in to prove a point to their rivals.
The best performing athletes were given certificates to motivate them aim higher while there was a selection of athletes to represent the circuit for the district festival.
The guest of honor for the closing ceremony was the Circuit Supervisor of the Circuit, Madam Euginea Asiedu.
