The paramount Chief of the Gbi Traditional Area, Togbega Gabusu VI,has allowed the late Chief Imam of the Zongo Community to be burried near the Central Mosque.
This incidence came as a wake up call for peace in the area after the two communities had certain levels of misunderstandings pertaining to the burial site of the Zongo community in recent times.
But in a related statement by the Paramount chief,he stated emphatically ,that his reson for allowing the late Chief Imam to be burried at the said location was due to his effort to promote peaace in the community whilst he was alive.
The late Chief Imam was Alhaji Tahiru Mohammed ,who died on Sunday ,October 11,2015 and was burried the next day october 12 and the final funeral rites was held for two days at Hohoe.
” The late Imam believed in peace and made the effort to promote unity between Gbis and the Hohoe Zongo Community while he was here with us. As a gesture of my appreciation of the Imam’s role in helping maintain peace in the Hohoe area, I granted a special dispensation for the Zongo Community to bury their leader near the Hohoe Central Mosque. May he find rest with his maker”.He stated.
