Pupils of Pai-Katanga Roman Catholic Basic School in the Volta Region are forced to learn in deplorable Classrooms with no Teaching and Learning Materials after a heavy rainstorm destroys the Classroom and other Stationary over the week, a situation that has affected quality teaching and learning in the School.
According to the Assistant Headmaster of the School,Mr Edwin Agbegoe, the heavy rainstorm destroyed the roofs of the JHS 1 to 3 Classrooms including Pupils’ Text Books, Teaching and Learning Materials, Fans etc.
He emphasized the situation has affected academic activities in the school.
“Roofs of an entire classroom blocks at the Katanga basic schools in the Volta Region were ripped off by a heavy rainstorm.
As a result, learning materials were destroyed by the rain causing students to dry up their books and buy new books.
The situation also leaves pupils not to concentrate when teach and learning is on going but pupils have no option than to manage.”he narrated.
The school is believed not to had undergone any renovation since it was established.
The dilapidated nature of the classroom blocks make goats, pigs, sheep’s, snakes, scorpions, and other dangerous animals come inside the classrooms.
According to Mr. Edwin, notifications and Complaints were sent to the Municipal Assembly, Parish Priest, etc but have yielded no results.
The situation affects teaching and learning in the school and demands an immediate attention to help the form 3 candidates have conducive environment.
The school appealed to the government, individuals, and organisations to come to the aid of the school.
