Credible information reaching EducationGhana.net can confirm that Government has given a bank cheque to Colleges of Education in the Country as payment of a Two -Semester feeding fee arrears owed students of the various colleges.
The cheque is expected to facilitate payment to all Students in the colleges including the Level 300 Students who are in their out segment of their Three-Year course in Diploma in Basic Education.
Recently,it has been published that Government had released GHC 62.7 million feeding grant arrears
to Colleges of Education to be given to Students from Level 100 to Level 300 .
Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana and The National Union of Ghana Students,as well as the Teacher Unions put pressure on government to pay the feeding grant it owed Colleges of Education.
Government Scrapped off Allowances to Colleges of Education so as to increase the intake of Applicants who were deterred due to the quota placed on admission of Students into Colleges of Education.
As at last week Friday,most of the Colleges received their cheques for payment of two semesters’ feeding grant arrears and Students are thereby advised to visit their various campuses to make further inquiries on the feeding fee arrears.
