The Eastern Regional chapter of the GNAT Ladies Societies (GNATLAS), celebrated the International Women’s Day at Somanya Technical Institute in the Yilo Krobo Municipal Capital on Thursday.
The event saw in attendance School girls and members of the Association, as well as some distinguished personalities from the Region.
The event Mrs. Elizabeth Gadagbui-Dzade (Headmistress, Yilo Krobo SHS),as its guest speaker and Hon. Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor as the Special Guest of Honour for the event.
This colour celebration which is to celebrate women in the Association and beyond was chaired by Mad. Abena Gyamera, 1st National Trustee of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT).
Speaking on the theme : “Empowering the Rural Woman: The Female Teacher In focus, Case of Eastern Region” the guest Speaker urged all females most especially the female teachers to take up development roles in Society to support the works of the men.
She also emphasized the need for the women (female teachers) in the rural communities to be empowered to take up responsibilities that will benefit themselves and Society.
Female teachers were encouraged to share their views in Societal decision making processes and also encourage the young girls in their schools to leave up to expectations in Society.
