Family Health Hospital to partner WAEC to Support 2017 Best WASSCE Candidates

Family Health Hospital, the key arm of Family Health Medical School is partnering West Africa Examinations Council to offer three year medical care to awardees of the 2017 WASSCE Best candidates as part of its social responsibility.

In addition, Family Health Hospital is also offering GH¢20,000.00 to the school from which the Best awardee were coming from.

The overall 2017 Best WASSCE student is Jochebed Adwoa Sutherland from Holy Child Senior High School, Cape Coast, while the second Best student went to Audrey Emefa Awuttey also from Holy Child Senior High School, Cape Coast.

The third Best student went to Rachel Amaning Kwarteng from Aburi Girls Senior High School, Aburi.

The other two awardees were; Chris Delanyo Yao Ackotia, Achimota School, Accra and Hazel Asantewaa Kissi-Dankwa from Aburi Girls’ Senior High School, Aburi.

In an interview Co-Founder and Chief Medical Director of Family Health Hospital Dr. Susu Kwawukume, said the hospital is happy to partner WAEC to give the best of healthcare to students.

She pledged her outfit’s commitment to support the efforts of government and WAEC to ensure that quality healthcare and education is given to Ghanaian students.

Dr. Susu Kwawukume said the Hospital will continue to support and improve the health needs of Ghanaians.

The President of Family Health Medical School, Ghana’s Premier Private Medical School, Prof. Enyonam Yao Kwawukume, expressed admiration at the performance of the awardees and charged other students to emulate them and study hard to make Ghana proud wherever they find themselves.

The first three students made Ghana proud by taking the first, second and third positions at the international level out of a total number of 1,880,666.

Last year, WASSCE conducted for 289,210 candidates in Ghana, consisting of 147,591 males and 141,619 females.

The candidates were from 916 schools and included 47 visually-impaired candidates and 124 hearing-impaired candidates.

Two hundred and twenty eight (228) in Ghana obtained eight Grade ‘A’. This comprises General Science Programme-176 candidates, General Arts Programme-23 candidates and Business Programme-29 candidates.

Family Health Medical School is Ghana’s first private Medical School and teaching arm of Family Health Hospital.

The vision of FHMS is to be the prime centre for professional medical education and is affiliated to the University of Ghana and accredited by the National Accreditation Board with domestic and international lecturers/professors and has collaborations with medical schools in America, Europe and Asia.

The school also has well-equipped laboratories for Physiology/Biochemistry, Pharmacology/Chemical Pathology and has an Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) equipment for the study of embryology (Anatomy), the only one in a medical school in Ghana with Wi Fi hot spots all over the compound, on-site hospital (Family Health Hospital).

Other unique features about Family Health Medical School are the onsite hostels with cafeteria services situated on campus and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, providing a beautiful and serene environment conducive for learning.

The school admits people with WASSCE, SSSCE, IGCSE/GCE (Cambridge) – ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels, IB Certificate holders with credit passes or better in the sciences as well as Graduates with First or Second class in the Sciences.

Family Health Medical School, a member of the Family Health Group, started in a garage at 51 Guggisberg Street, Korle Bu, Korle Gonno, Mamprobi, in 1997 as a Diagnostic Centre.

It was later moved to Zoti road in a rented premise and then to its permanent location at Teshie, directly opposite the Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Training Centre, where it is strategically located and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
