Teacher trainees all over the country are not expected to pay Utility Bills and Feeding fees this semester. This was agreed upon by the delegates at the just ended 21st General Assembly held at Jasikan College of Education in The Volta Region.
According to the delegates, No Trainee is to pay Utility Bills as a component of their School fees for this semester and the subsequent semester.
Their reason were that, The Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Education has echoed the directive severally ,that the government has made a pronouncement that no Tertiary Institution is to pay Utility bill.
According to the leadership of TTAG, the Ministry of Education, through the Deputy minister of Education in Charge of pre-Tertiary Education ,Hon. Alex Kyeremeh as issued an order to all Principals and vice Chancellors including ECG not to bother students with issues of utility bills.
They also cited a recent meeting between the leadership of NUGS and Government ,which communicated to the government ,that the decision of students not to pay the utilities was not as a result of mere non-compliance but because they can’t pay.
The trainees also made reference to pronouncements made by the President, his vice as well as the Deputy minister in charge of tertiary education, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa ,that trainees were fed thrice daily and has no cause to complain.
