The Ghana Education Service has opened the opportunity for teachers to be transferred to any school of their choice.
This revelation was in a letter written by the Central Regional Office of the Ghana Education Service ,signed by the regional director Mr David Afram to all of its Metropolitan,Municipal and District directors of Education.
According to the Ghana Education Service, all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education in the region can now issue Assurance letters to applicants pending the lifting of the embargo on transfers of teachers.
The letter therefore did not indicate the exact day for the final lifting of the embargo, but its obvious the issuance of the assurance letters will guarantee the lifting of the embargo.
The Directors were directed to follow the guidelines of issuing such letters.
The former Director General of the Ghana Education Service signed an earlier document ,directing all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education not to allows teachers to be transferred until further notice.
Though there wee rumors that the decision was due to lack of funds at the GES,the Director General could not give any pertinent reason.
